photographs taken by rinaldo rasa at the ceremony, venice italy friday january 2017
Last Friday (January 27 2017) in front of the Canal Grande in Venice I attended a ceremony of commemoration of the death of the young ghanian immigrant that died drowned under the eyes of a inhuman crowd of people that refused to help him because they had has the priority to take pictures of the death using their smartphones.
Beside this was also pronounced insulting words against him because his skin was black. This an eternal shame to venetians and italians! I mean that it is impossible to apologise for these behaviors. Friday afternoon a hundred of people with the presence of the brothers of the dead man. It was made a commemoration and a funeral for him on the edge of Canal Grande where he died one week ago. A crown of flower was deposed in the water of the Canal and a brief discourse. At the celebration no politician , neither the mayor of Venice was there hence this is the exact spectacle that represents a sign of crude indifference. My heart was weeping.
